One dessert that I have been waiting to bake is Bakerella's Cake Pops. When our family recently got together to celebrate Easter, I thought that this was a great time to try and make some Easter Pops.

Buttercream Frosting Too Sweet?
I have a huge sweet tooth. So to me, my frosting is never *too* sweet. My husband Ishmeal disagrees. So now, when I make buttercream frosting, I use SALTED butter instead of unsalted. The salt in the butter helps to cut the sweetness of the sugar. I have also read recipes that involve adding extra salt to the mix, but I haven't tried that yet. Good 'ol salted butter does the trick for us!
The (Ugly) Cake That Started it All
It was May 2009. Monkey's first birthday was approaching, and since his nickname is "Monkey," we decided to do a jungle theme. I decided that I would attempt a chocolate "lion" sheet cake with vanilla buttercream frosting for the guests and a matching "monkey" smash cake for my special boy.
Hi! My name is Brandy...
...and I am the Captain of this culinary adventure. Who am I? Well, for starters, I'm a mother of 2 (Monkey, 2, and Bunny Pie, 1), wife to my husband, Ishmeal, and a small business owner. My baking obsession began during a harmless cake baking session for Monkey's 1st birthday.
